FA Cup| Ake scores winner as City beat Arsenal to progress to the next round

Nathan Aké sealed Manchester City's passage to the next round after scoring the only goal against Arsenal at the Etihad.

Arsenal had the ball rolling as early as the 5th minute, as City Shotstopper Stefan Ortega was forced to make the first save of the match, keeping steady to palm Takehiro Tomiyasu's half volley effort away from goal.

Few minutes later, Erling Haaland tried an audacious overhead kick from outside the box after spotting Matt Turner absense at goal but Tomiyasu did well go clear the effort.

More chances fell to the feet of both sides, but none could capitalise on them, as the half ended goalless.
The second half started off slowly as both sides struggled to get the breakthrough as early as they would have hoped.
Fortunately, lady luck was on the Cityzen's side as Nathan Aka made it 1-0 in the 64th minute.
Substitute Julian Alvarez had his long range shot cannon off the bottom post but it rebound to the feet of Jack Grealish, who held off two defenders before setting up the Dutchman to put a curling shot past Turner.

There were few or more chances they arose, but the lone goal was enough to hold off Arsenal, just enough to knock them out of the FA Cup for the 3rd time in a row.

This was Manchester City's first FA Cup victory against Arsenal since 1904, which means, it's been 119 years.
The last time the two sides met in the competition was in 2020, where City lost 2-0.
