The Legend and Icon Pele dies at the age of 82 (1940-2022)

Brazil and football legend and icon Edson Arantes do Nascimento, who was mostly known as Pele has passed away at the age of 82 at the Albert Enstein Hospital at Sao Paulo after battling cancer.
 
There are no words to describe how great and renowed the former minister of Brazil sports, as his death shook not only the world of sports but the world as a whole.
 Widely regarded as the greatest player of all time, Pele was one of the most successful and influential personality of the 20th century.

Some of his greatest achievements included 3 World Cup medals, FIFA Player of the century alongside Diego Maradona and a career confirmed 757 goals.
 He is also tied with Neymar as Brazil's all time top scorer with 77 goals.

During his playing time, South American players were ineligible to win the balon d'or award which was first given in 1958.
However, in 2013, FIFA gave him a special made award, his own balon d'or accolade  in order to make up for the ones which could have been his.
 A message from the Brazilian's official Twitter account on Thursday read:
 "Inspiration and love marked the journey of King PelĂ©, who peacefully passed away today. Love, love and love, forever."


 What a great journey it has been for the icon and we send our condolences to his family.
