World Cup| Bruno secures qualification for Portugal with a brace against Uruguay in Group H

Portugal secure their spot for the next round of the tournament with a 2-0 victory against Uruguay at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

The two sides couldn't find that cutting edge in the first half, as each failed to be clinical in front of goal.
Rodrigo Bentancur had the best chance for Uruguay in the 32nd minute after he made a splendid dribbling run into the box but his shot was saved by Diogo Costa.
Despite the Red and Green side bossing possession and the runs of Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes into the box almost every time, Portugal still couldn't hit a shot on target as they both played out to a draw before the break.

In the second half, the first chance fell for Joao Felix in the 52nd minute but instead of unselfishly square playing the ball to Ronaldo who was free, he went for goal and missed it.
However, his mistake was gotten quickly as Bruno Fernandes cross found its way into the net just 2 minutes later.
Receiving a pass from Raphael Guerrero, the Manchester United midfielder crossed the ball into the net, aiming for the head of Ronaldo and it slightly missed him but managed to get into the net.

Substitute Luiz Suarez curling shot from the edge of the box in the 75th minute almost found the equalizer for Uruguay but shot rattled the post.
Another chance fell for the striker via a set piece this time but he could only find the side netting.

Drama in the 90th minute as Portugal were given a penalty after VAR reviewed the handball by José Giménez in the box.
Fernandes stepped up to take the penalty in the absence of Ronaldo and comfortably made it 2-0, killing off any hopes for Uruguay to stage a comeback.

Bruno almost his hattrick, coming close twice but Uruguayan keeper Nochet and the post denied him.
Portugal became the third team to seal their spot in the Round of 16, behind Brazil and France but the rest of Group H have all to play for in the final day of the group.
