Premiet League| Brighton secure victory against Chelsea for the first time in 10 years

Brighton handed Chelsea their first defeat under former boss Graham Potter, beating the blues with a brutal 4-1 scoreline.

Red hot winger Leandro Trossard was at it yet again, opening the scoring in the 5th minute, collecting a pass from Kaoru Mitoma before rounding Kepa to get the opener.

It went from bad to worse in the 14th minute for Chelsea, as Ruben Loftus-cheek clearance inside his box found the net, scoring an unfortunate own goal and gave the seagulls a 2-0 lead.

Chelsea tried to get into the game minutes later but couldn't get past Robert Sanchez at goal.

In the 31st minute, Caicedo tried his luck from range, but his effort came off the outside of the post.

Trevor Chaloboah followed the footsteps of his teammate in the 42nd minute, sliding the ball into his own net.

More problems arose in the second half for the blues as Kepa had to be substituted because of an injury he sustained.

Chelsea did pull one back in the 48th minute after Conor Gallagher's cross found Kai Havertz, who headed past Sanchez.

Sanchez was alert to deny Aubameyang from adding another before Trossard wasted a good chance to bag a brace.

In the 2nd minute of stoppage, Mendy did well to deny Enciso twice but couldn't stop Pascal Gross from tucking home the rebound.

A famous victory for the Seagulls, who, before today, haven't beaten the blues since 2012, which came in a friendly.

It is also their first league victory against Chelsea since the emergence of the club.
